When I first moved into my new place, one of the small details that got me excited was that I could see the Coca Cola sign out my window. I loved the retro-glow of the old lights as it Vegas-ed it up. Turns out, there had been some kind of Coca Cola sign on that spot for 75 years! Every day at 5:30 the lights would come on and the sign would sparkle, hawking the tasty chemically corn syrupy corporatey goodness!
Imagine my horror when what initially looked like a "repair" turned into a "dismantle". The next thing I know... I looked over and the entire sign was gone. Gone! After 75 years.
Fortunately, the Google reassured me that it was only being taken down due to the amount of power it consumed and that it would be replaced by the end of the month with an LED, 80% more energy efficient, replacement. Shwew! I'll miss the old sign, but I refuse to judge before seeing the new one. Maybe it'll be even better!
I'm going to go have a Coke!
When it's reinstalled, you should gather a bunch of people together to sing, "I'd like to teach the world to sing" using the old Coke lyrics of the early 70's!
